I just looked up the word "umbrage" (because this word comes up frequently on the NT site when searching for Rabbit). I had assumed that it only meant offence or resentment (eg. "to take umbrage at someone's opinion"). But it turns out that there are other interesting definitions:

A) Something that affords shade.
B) Shadow or shade.
C) A vague or indistinct indication; a hint.
